Last Color Inspiration.

Good Morning!

Here is my card for this week's Color Inspiration from Kristina Werner. It is also my last color inspiration for the summer. Next week I will be packing up my stamp and scrap supplies. I have some cards that I will be pre posting next week to share with you; but this is my last week of doing challenges.
So, onto the card for today. This week's colors were Pacific Point, Yellow, Real Red, Black and White. I decided to use my Sushi Bowl set from Stampendous. I stamped the bowl in black ink and then did the all the inside fish, crab etc. Then I took my aquapainter and pacific point ink to fill it in. It made it a bit splotchy; but I decided that I liked that because to me, it makes it look more watery. I applied crystal effects to the fish, balloons and shells.

Color Inspiration Mojo

Good Morning Everyone!
I hope you all had a good weekend. Ours was very busy including a bowling birthday party for my son on Saturday and a family trip to Pet Smart to get the dog groomed. It just so happens that Michaels is next to Pet Smart! So...I gobbled up some goodies there. However, I have to tell you that the best part of being at Michaels was DH's reaction of "Hey, this isn't just some girly craft store." as he's perusing the train aisle and models car and airplane section with the boys. Anyhow, I needed some time to catch up on a few things yesterday, so I apologize for not posting.
My card for today combines the Mojo Monday sketch and this week's Color Inspiration. This week's colors are Baja Breeze, Mustard, Saffron, Sahara Sand and White. Kristina has kept her rule of not adding or taking away any of the colors. I didn't add any more colors as far as paper; but did decide to add some green color to the leaves around the watering can image. The image is from Our Craft Lounge. The tag is from a retired SU set, that I don't remember the name of; but it seemed to fit the card. I hope you all like it. Take care, and have a good day!

Before we get started for today, I'll mention that this week's Friday GH Column is just below this post.

It's time once again for another weekly Color Inspiration from Kristina. A big congratulations to all of the winners she selected for last week's big CI 50 celebration. This week the colors are Chocolate Chip, Mustard, Rose Red and White. Kristina also kept the rules from last week of not being able to add or take away any of the colors. For me this wasn't a problem; although I was tempted to use some saffron as a card base. I decided to go with white as the card base which you can't really tell in this picture. So, I guess you'll just have to take my word for it! (LOL!) I used an image from my Clear Dollar Stamp set "Ageless Antiques." I embossed the image with brown ink and clear embossing powder and then watercolored the inside of the image with my aqua painters and ink pads. This is also my card for Wednesday's SCS sketch challenge. I replaced the oval with the flowers mainly because I have absolutely no way to cut an oval, so I try to avoid using them if at all possible.

WSC 74, Color Inspiration...Finally!!

Hi Everyone!

I'm so sorry for neglecting my blog over the last couple of days. I've been busy trying to get my Easter cards done, and I've also started doing some preliminary packing for our move in June. So here is my card for this week's Color Inspiration and also for today's WSC. Charmaine over at Oodabug Alley is the host for this week. Be sure to check out her blog and post your entry there so that you can be entered in the random drawing on Tuesday, March 31. You never know, you could win some goodies!!
I sat down to do this card almost two hours ago, while I was watching General Hospital (which was my first mistake), with the intention that I would have it done and posted by the time the show was over. For the record, I will say that I really like these colors together, more so than I actually thought I would. I also like the sketch. So, having said all that, I'm not sure what happened; but my "vision" (whatever that was....) didn't exactly turn out the way I wanted. So after a lot of doing and undoing, tying and untying, this is what I came up with.
So what do you think? I would live to hear any feedback good or bad.
Also, I apologize for not doing recipe Thursday or doing GH Friday this week. I will do them both next week. Have a great weekend, and thanks for taking the time to visit me!

Classic Color Inspiration

Good Morning!

A very early morning today. I've been awake since about 4:00am. I laid in the bed for a while and then decided, to heck with it; I'm just going to go ahead and get up. Obviously no one is up at the moment, so I've got free time right now. I actually completed Kristina's color inspiration yesterday; but didn't get a chance to post it. I really liked the classy feel of these week's color challenge. I knew right away that I wanted to use some of my "Die Cuts with a View" paper for some glitz and glam. It was very tempting to add another color; but I was able to resist. It was very easy to put together since I only used the three stamps from "Priceless". I know I use that set an awful lot. What can I say, I guess we all have our favorites. I stamped the white flower in the center with Whisper White Craft ink onto black paper and then dried it with my heating gun.

SCS Sketch Challenge and Color Inspiration

Good Afternoon All!

I hope you are all having a fabulous day. Mine has been busy as always. I am almost done preparing for my workshop this Saturday. Just have a couple of more projects to do tomorrow and then I will be all set. At least until next week when I have to start preparing for the next workshop I have the following Saturday! Anyhow, I did manage to get my card done today for yesterday's SCS sketch challenge and this week's Color Inspiration. This week's colors were Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pink Pirouette and White. I added a splash of Rose Red with two of the petals, just to spice things up a bit. The other petals are actually pink; but once again the scanner washed them out a bit. I finished this one and I keep looking at it trying to decide if I like it or not. What do you think? Color Inspiration, Weekend Sketch and More New Stamps

Hi again all!

Back again very quickly to share my creation for Color Inspiration and the Weekend Sketch Challenge. I changed the panels on the weekend sketch, simply because it worked better for me. I liked the colors Kristina chose. I had a hard time figuring out how to incorporate the olive, though. That's why I only used a small piece of it. I also wanted to try my hand at some bleaching techniques that I'd seen done lately as well. For the piece on the left with the sentiment, I sprayed a piece of Ruby Red card stock lightly with a mist of bleach and let that dry. Then I sprayed the paper with water and crumpled it up. I straightened the paper and pressed basic brown, and Ruby Red ink pads over the paper and let the paper dry. Finally I sponged some Old Olive ink around the top and bottom edges. I inked the sentiment from "Echoes of Kindness" in black ink in the center. For the panel on the right I took another stamp from the same set and simply stamped it in bleach on to the paper. The rest is fairly straightforward, so I won't bore you with all the details. So, that's all for my creativity today...I'm off to start prepping my GH chatter post. Color Inspiration and More

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well today. The house is quiet as it is very early yet this morning, so I thought I'd take advantage of the peace and get my post done for today.
It's time again for another Color Inspiration from Kristina Werner. This week the colors she chose were Mostly Mustard, Really Rust, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. I really like these colors together and found them easy to work with. I'm also using last week's SCS sketch challenge. Unfortunately, I'm not really sure that I like the final result of my card. I'm not sure why; but I just think it lacks---something. I really wanted to use my Pick a Petal set and I wanted to do something with it a bit different than I normally do. It seems as though I always make the same sort of flower with it. I think perhaps I should have moved it up a bit on the kiwi kiss piece or maybe stamped a bit of a background on the kiwi before I added it. Anyhow, I finally decided that after about an hour of just staring at it, enough was enough and just let it be. I'd love to know what you all think though.
Also, I have another card to share today, totally unrelated to Color Inspriation (but actually kinda close) Just a simple birthday card. Have I mentioned I have 14 March birthday cards to do!! For this card, I wanted to do the Wax Paper Resist technique. I don't know, but maybe the stamping gods just werent' lined up in my favor yesterday. I did 15 cards at Christmas time that used this technique and didn't have a problem at all. This one card yesterday gave me a fit!! Finally got a version that I could work with. It's the green piece at the bottom of the card. I also stamped my "Floral" background piece over it and then rubbed the image with a paper towel.

A Jam Packed TGIF!

Good Morning Everyone!

TGIF!! Hold on to your seats gang, we got a LOT to talk about today!! First of all here's my entry for this week's Color Inspiration. For those of you who don't know, Kristina has decided to keep the Color Inspiration; but will no longer be doing the Round Up. To me, that's fine. I do it to be inspired and to check out all of the other great entries. Mr Linky makes it so easy to do that, so if you haven't had a chance before to check out the other entries, try to make it a point to do that sometime over the next few days. The colors this week are Riding Hood Red, Basic Black, Basic Grey and White. Easy peasy, classic combo. Although I used Real Red instead. I also added a bit of Brilliant Blue, since there was a smidge of it in the photo. Anyhow, I knew I wanted to use my Paper Pretties "Sending you my love" Stamp; but I also knew that it would be cutting it close to send it to anyone for Valentine's Day. Then I received wonderful news from a dear friend who just found out she's expecting again. This is her third attempt. The first one she miscarried early, the second one was a 2nd trimester miscarriage, leading to a preterm birth that resulted in a stillborn birth. I swear I cried for days after I got that news from her. So, I'm sending all my love and best wishes to her with this card today.

I don't think she's posted it yet; but be sure to keep checking her blog so you can jump right in and get creative. I will be working on my sample as soon as I can.

Color Inspiration #39

Hello Everyone!

First, let me apologize for the lack of a recipe this week. Just sorta slipped my mind; but I'll post one next week for sure.
So it's time for another Color Inspiration Challenge from Kristina. This week's colors are Real Red, Black, So Saffron, Green Galore and White.
She actually gave us the option of choosing a different green if we couldn't get the Green Galore to work or if we thought it was too bright. I liked it, however and decided to use it. I also had a chance to ink up my brand-new Sale-a-Bration set "Yummy." The only other stamp set I used was the "Floral" Background Stamp on the So Saffron Piece. I colored the main image with Green, Red and Black markers. Nothing spectacular; but it still came out kinda cute, I think.

Color Inspiration #38.

Hi Everyone!
Wow, 38 Color Inspirations. I can hardly believe it! This week's colors were fun: Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White. I've been looking back at some of my older stamps over the past few days and trying to make an effort to use them a bit more, including in my card for today. Sometimes when you don't use them for so long, it's like they are new again!
I started with a Pumpkin Pie base and paper pierced around the edges. Then I added a layer of Pretty in Pink.I used "Suitable for Framing" around the edges in Pink Piourette, Ruby Red and Pumpkin. I added the layer of Ruby Red in the middle next. I paper pierced in the corners; but it's a bit hard to see. I colored the "G is for Genuine" from "Around the Block" set with markers and stamped it on Whisper White. The "Friend" tag is from "Terrific Tags" and I used my tag punch to cut it out as well as for the Pretty in Pink piece behind it. I added the brad in the center of the tag and then a small piece of Riding Hood Red ribbon in the corner to finish the card. I hope you like it. Back to Stamping!

Good Morning!
Well, as you can see I've returned to stamping. Yes, I will still be scrapbooking; but I think that for blogging purposes the stamping is better. I sat for the better part of two hours yesterday staring at pictures just trying to figure out the paper that I wanted to use. Don't you wish that everybody would just coordinate all the time, so that you didn't have that problem? I decided to forget that layout and put another one together. I got the paper and pictures and even a title put on; but then realized I had no embellishments whatsoever to put on it. That in itslf was baffling, since I've an entire folder filled with things. You would have thought I would have found something in there.
Finally, I decided, forget it...I'm going back to stamping. Scrapbooking will just have to be a work in progress for me. I decided to combine Kristina's Color Inspiration with this week's Mojo Monday (which by the way has a new blog of it's very own. Check out the new link) It was a bit hard to get the juices flowing, but I think I did ok. I started with a white base. I probably should have made the card a bit smaller; but these were already prefolded, so I just grabbed one. I added a layer of Chocolate Chip, followed by a piece of Baja Breeze that I stamped with my "Floral" background stamp. I layered Pumpkin Pie and Olive across the bottom and added the eyelets on each side. The Mojo Monday sketch has an oval in it; but I have no way to make an oval, so I decided to use my scallop circle. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" in Pumpkin Pie ink and then added the martini glass stamp from "Cheers to You". I cut a half circle with my circle punch and then added the orange ribbon. I decided that the white just looked a bit bright, so I decided to use my spritzer with markers. A couple of spots got a bit darker than I would have liked; but by that time it was too late to worry about it.

Color Inspiration #35

Hi Again Everyone!
Just wanted to post my card for this week's Color Inspiration. This week's colors are Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Baja Breeze and Very Vanilla. These were so much better than last week's. (I really struggled with that one :)!) I started with a Chocolate Chip base and then added a layer of Vanilla which I had stamped with the "Print Pattern" background stamp in So Saffron ink. Then I layered So Saffron and Baja Breeze on the left side of the card. I cut petals from the "Pick a Petal" after stamping them in Baja Breeze and So Saffron and glued them to the Baja Breeze piece. The swirly stamp at the top and the bottom of the flower are from "Oodles of Doodles" by Paper Salon. The "Think of You" sentiment came from "Sincere Salutations". The cocoa flowers are also from Pick a Petal. I cut those out as well and added the blue and yellow brads before adhering them with dimensionals.

Color Inspiration #34

Good Morning Everyone!

It's time once again for another Color Inspiration from Kristina. I have to say that this has been my least favorite color set since I've been participating in these. The colors this week were Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Sage Shadow, Bordering Blue and Certainly Celery. I had a really hard time with the Certainly Celery part of the group and I think that may be because of the Sage Shadow. Those are just two way too different greens to try to put together. I think it would have been best if the greens had been optional, as in choose one or the other. Having said all that, I kept the Celery very minimal on my card, limiting it to the ribbon behind the cake and the circle sentiment "Enjoy your Day", which is from an old set "Riveting". I knew I needed a birthday card and so I used "Birthday Whimsy" for my cake image. Once again, card is very simple, so no need to really go into a lot of details. This was the only thing I had a chance to do yesterday. I hope to do some more stamping today and be back to share some more things. Until then, have a good morning.

Stained Glass Color Inspiration.

For this week's Color Inspiration I decided to try the Stain Glass technique again. I really like this technique and think it suited the design of my card well. This is also my card for yesterday's SCS sketch challenge. I really thought the best way to do the three panels was to do one stamp and divide into three separate pieces rather than trying to find three individual images that would work well together. I chose Chocolate Chip as my base and then put a strip of Pumpkin Pie, then Certainly Celery and finally the Taken with Teal at the bottom. I embossed the "Stitched" background onto a piece of vellum with versamark and copper powder and then colored the reverse side in with various markers. I cut it into three equal pieces and then attached each to a piece of Whisper White paper and then to it's respective color piece. I decided that the image of the background stamp was enough that I really didn't need to do another image for the remaining square of the sketch, so I decided to just make that the sentiment. Finally, I added the ribbon and then Prima flowers on the side with the antique copper brads and finished the card.

Color Inspiration #32

Hi Everyone!

It's time for another Color Inspiration from Kristina Werner. When I first saw the colors for this week, I almost opted out of doing it this week mainly because I knew that the best thing to do would be a holiday card of some kind. However, I'm on a complete Christmas card overload since I'm trying to get my own finished to mail out. But what can I say? If stamping is an addiction, then Kristina's Color Inspiration must surely be an enabler!! So, this is what I came up with.
I started with a Riding Hood Red base and then added a neutral piece which I stamped with "Fine Lace" background stamp in Creamy Caramel. The original color palette calls for Sahara Sand; but I didn't have any of that. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had any of it! I embossed the angel image with gold embossing powder and then watercolored with Ruby Red and Caramel inks. I wheeled the "Soft Holly" image across a piece of Very Vanilla Card stock and then used poppin' pastels technique to color the entire piece in Old Olive chalk. I went over the image with Old Olive marker to add some definition and used my Ruby Red marker for the holly berries.

Combining Challenges Once Again,

Good Morning Everyone!

Yes, once again I have combined challenges. It's so much easier than trying to do a separate card for everything. Today's card is a combination of the SCS sketch challenge and this week's Color Inspiration from Kristina Werner. I usually try to do both of these on Wednesday; but I didn't get to it until this morning. I am giving this card to my husband tomorrow for our 10th wedding anniversary. I really liked these colors that Kristina chose this week because I thought they were easy to use to create a masculine card but I also felt like I was still able to add a bit of a feminine touch to it as well. I started with a Pumpkin Pie base and added a piece of Close to Cocoa, then I cut a piece of Saffron 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 and added two purple strips to each side. I didn't actually have Elegant Eggplant, so I substituted the closest thing that I have. I cut (4) 1" squares in the same purple and added the prima flowers with the gold eyelets attaching it all to the Saffron piece. I used the flower stamp from the "Fresh Cuts" Set around three of the sides in Saffron ink and then stamped the Sentiment at the bottom in Pumpkin Pie. I stamped the center image, which is from an old Sale-a-bration set in Lavender Lace on glossy white and attached it to a small square of Close to Cocoa. I attached to entire Saffron piece with pop up squares the card base.
So, that's all for me today. I think my husband has surprise anniversary activities planned for me tomorrow. I've no idea what or where they may lead me, but I'm super excited to find out. Color Inspiration #30.

Good Morning Everyone!

Wow! I can't believe that there have been 30 K. Werner Color Inspirations. It's amazing that she just keeps coming up with such great color combos. This week's is not exception. I love the soft and subtle neutralness of this particular combo of Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Sahara Sand and White. I don't have any Sahara Sand, so I try to find an acceptable substitute, which I found in my scrap pile. I thought the inspiration piece was very clean and very simple and I wanted to keep that theme throughout my card. As soon as I saw the flowers in the Duvet in the picture, I knew which stamp set I was going to use. I wish I could remember the name of it; but I don't! Sorry! It's from an old SU Sale-A Bration set. I used Celery as my base and two step stamped the flower stamp across the top and the bottom in Celery ink. I cut two half circles out of the Old Olive piece and wrapped a piece of 5/8 wide grosgrain Old Olive ribbon around it. I stamped the flowers behind the sentiment in Almost Amethyst ink, which is a bit hard to see in the picture. I used Close to Cocoa and Olive for the sentiment in the middle. Three simple brads on the right side complete the card.
I know that the posts have been rather short lately, and I think that's because I've only been doing one card instead of two each day to share with you. I've been working hard on Christmas cards, however. For those of you who make your cards, you know how time consuming that can be. Don't worry, I'll always have at least one card to share! Color Inspiration.

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Two posts in one day! I wanted to get my card for KWerner's Color Inspiration posted before the deadline this evening. The challenge this week was to use red or pink as the main color and then any other complementary colors. I chose Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Handsome Hunter and Chocolate Chip as my colors. I also finally got a chance to ink up my new "Upsy Daisy" set. This set has been wildly popular for SU this year and it's very easy to see why! I stamped my "Fine Lace Background Stamp" on the Cameo Coral base. I wheeled my daisy wheel on both the Ruby Red piece as well as the bottom vanilla piece. I covered the image in Cameo Coral ink and then ran my brayer across the stamp and then rolled it across the paper. This created the reverse image. I stamped the image directly on the paper in Ruby Red ink on top of the Cameo Coral, thus creating the double look. I punched the corners using the ticket corner punch and added the ruby red eyelets.
I also worked on Beate's Weekend Sketch; but it's not quite finished, so I'll post that first thing Monday morning. Have a great weekend; and thanks for visiting with me!
