Cooking it Up with Katie

Hi Everyone!

Sorry about the later than normal post today. I'm working on some other non-crafting projects at the moment, and time has just slipped away from me today. Here is my card for this week's "Cooking it Up with Katie" challenge. This week we are so happy to be sponsored by Stampin Dragon Designs. The recipe for this week is to start with flowers , make it for a Lady and finish with a little(or a lot of) pink.

Lots of bright colors and papers in this card, so I hope it makes you all think of happy spring days with beautiful flowers.

Have a great day, everyone!

There's No One Like You

Hi Everyone!

Here is my card for yesterday's Mojo Monday. I really liked this sketch. It was easy to work with and I was very surprised how quickly my card came together. I used a softer color palette for this card, combining Kraft, Harvest Gold, Fine Linen with Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. These soft colors remind me of spring! I stamped the "Flower Pattern" Cling stamp from Hero Arts with Versa Mark ink and stamped it on the Pale Plum background piece. I embossed the flower from SU's "Fifth Ave Floral" with gold embossing powder and then used Copic Markers (Vo1, V12, V15, V17) to fill it in. I used Y11 around the edges to give it a little bit of a "glow". The Harvest Gold piece was embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder and then I paper pierced the edges of the Fine Linen piece in the center.
I was rather pleased with the final results of this card and I hope you like it too! I will enter this card into the following challenges:

1. Mojo Monday: Sketch 187

2. Cupcake Craft Challenge: Lots of Layers

3. Woodware USA: Die Cuts and Punches

CAS Happiness

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was very busy with 2 gymnastics meets and other events. I didn't get a chance to do a lot of stamping over the weekend; but I did manage to do this CAS card for the OCL challenge from Friday. The challenge was to not only do a CAS challenge; but to use something clear on your card. I have to admit, I was a bit stumped about this one at first, and then I remembered that I had these little clear epoxy stickers and thought they would be perfect. The flower is from OCL's "Fabulous Florals" I stamped the bottom flower with Pumpkin Pie ink, the middle with Bermuda Bay and then used a Copic Marker (BG10) to fill it in. The top layer of the flower is stamped with So Saffron ink and I used a flower brad from Stampin Up! to hold it all together.
Like I said, CAS; but I must apologize for the less than stellar photograph. No excuse really, just a bit lazy about setting it all up

I am entering this simple little card into the following challenges:

1. Make it Monday: Anything Goes

2. Catered Crop: Recipe Challenge. I chose the following elements from the recipe:
a) Colors: Pastel colors
b) Color Mediums: Copic Marker
c) Embellishments: Brads
d) Tools: Crop-a -dile

3. Let's Ink it Up and The Secret Crafter: Stitching

4. Pile it on: Use rubber stamps (no digis)

5. Crafty Calendar: May flowers

6. Totally Gorjuss: No patterned paper

7. OCL: CAS (use something clear)

Love you, Mom

Hi Everyone!

This past Monday, Kristina Werner did a MACM card in which she did some white embossing on patterned paper. I was very intrigued by this idea, so I decided to try it out for myself and this is the result. I decided again to do another Mother's Day card. I will probably do about 4 more for the card drive I am currently preparing for.
I used Simply Chartreuse, Aqua Mist, White, and Hawaiian Shores to go with the patterned paper from Me and My Big Ideas. The flowers are from Our Craft Lounge "Fabulous Florals"
Finally, the alphabet stickers for the word "Mom" at the bottom are "Thickers" from American Crafts.
No challenges for this card today. Just wanted to do something on my own. I hope you like it!
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Mojo Monday Love for Mom

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all had a very nice weekend. Mine was good, quite and relaxing; but still good! I sent everyone back to school this morning and got to work on my card for this week's Mojo Monday. I know a lot of people are doing Easter cards right now; but I am trying to plan ahead for a couple of card drives that I am doing, so I decided to a Mother's Day card instead. This whole card centered around the fact that I wanted to use that orange sparkly brad (from Basic Grey's hopscotch collection) Often times I will buy accessories such as these to go with paper and then I forget that I have them and before I know it, I have no more paper and all these accessories! Anyhow I used Enchanted Evening, Really Rust, Sage Shadow and Melon Berry for my color palette along with the patterned paper from Basic Grey. I used Label 11 Nestabilities for the focal image in the bottom. The "Love" and "You" are from Our Craft Lounge, stamped in Sage Shadow ink The "MOM" alphabet stamps are from Martha Stewart
stamped with Not Quite Navy ink.
I tried for about 20 minutes to find a ribbon with a bow that I could tie that I liked under the flower on the side like it is in the sketch;but I just couldn't, so I decided instead to go with some small rhinestones which would complement the ones in the center of the Orange brad.
Just a few challenges for this card:

Mojo Monday: Sketch 186

My Partner in Crafting Crime: Layer it up (at least 3 layers)

Make it Monday: Anything Goes

Before I go, I just wanted to invite you to take a look at my other blog "Interpretations of This Crazy Life" I finally got a chance to update it last night after a shamefully long absence in posting. I would love any comments and feedback you might have on my "Finding Zen: Part I (The Body) post.
Have a great evening!

Dinosaur Birthday

Hi Everyone!

Well, it looks like there will be lots of corn dogs, and chicken nuggets on our dinner menu if the GOP and Congress can't get their acts together and keep things rolling in Washington. For those who may not be aware, my husband is currently deployed and the pending government shut down could affect us quite severely, along with many many other deployed families. Apparently, we may get 1/2 a pay check this time....so I wonder if that means he only has to do 1/2 the work while he 's there??!!

Anyhow, I digress....I am actually here to share a birthday card. One of the kids' neighborhood friends is having a birthday party Sunday so I decided to make a quick card. It is also for yesterday's SCS sketch challenge. I'm also using it for this week's Color Throwdown: Orange, Sky and Kraft. This was an easy sketch to work with and I'm glad I used it.
I decided to just use some pattern paper as a focus instead of an image, which made the card come together super fast!
Not a lot of challenges for this card, and not much more else to say about it, so I think that's all for me today. Enjoy the rest of your afternoon and I'll see you all tomorrow!
