Birthday wishes and more

Hi Everyone! Well I'm here to share a couple of cards that I have done over the last couple of days. The first one is for the OCL challenge. I didn't realize until after I had completed the card that I actually put the ribbon bow on the wrong side. Oh well, no big deal. I used Chocolate Chip, Blush Blossom, and Mellow Moss for my color palette. I used the swirls Cuttlebug folder for the blush blossom piece on the bottom and then used some "tattered rose" distress ink around the edges and also a bit of tea dye distress ink as well. The main image is from the OCL set "Savor the Roses" I used a variety of Copic Markers to color her in. I have really liked experimenting with shading and coloring with them now that my collection is expanding a bit.
The second card is for this week's "Get Sketchy" challenge. This card was super easy to put together and in fact I was able to do it in between baking batches of snickerdoodle cookies this afternoon. I used Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and a scrap of burgundy paper. The patterned strips at the bottom are from Basic Grey's "Indian Summer" Collection. The sentiment is from Stampin Up's "Upsy Daisy" set.
Can you believe I haven't even seen the new SU catalog since it came out last month??!! I have no idea what's new or what's old, for that matter.
Ok, I'm off to do a bit of blurfing. It's been a while since I've been out to see what everyone's been doing. Have a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by and if you get a chance, leave a quick comment, I love to hear what you all have to say!

3 Cards, More Challenges

Hi Everyone!

Well, I've been quiet the last couple of days; but I have been busy as you can see! Today I have three cards to share with you. The first is for yesterday's Mojo Monday Sketch. Now, I have to say that it didn't come out exactly the same as the sketch; but close enough as they say.The panels on the side and the middle should have been longer. Either that or my sentiment should have been smaller at the bottom. I used Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Tempting Turquoise, Very Vanilla for the colors. The stamp set is from LYB "Friends" set and everything was stamped in Chestnut Roan Chalk ink and Tempting TQ ink. The second card is for today's SCS sketch challenge. Now, I switched the two smaller panels so that my Hawaii girl would be facing "into" the card and not "off" the card. For this card, I used a SCS color challenge from a while ago using Barely Banana, Real Red, and Mellow Moss. This was a very nice color combination and one that I think I shall use again. I really liked how the boldness of the Red contrasts with the softness of the Moss and the Banana. I used a Paper Pretty Stamp for the main image, stamping her in Momento Cocoa ink and then coloring her in with a variety of Copic Markers.
Finally the last card I have is for a SCS sketch challenge that I missed while I was on my blogging break earlier this summer. I think it is #285. For this card I used Teal, Olive Green and Melon Mambo. The flower stamps on the side squares are from Inkadinkado and the sentiment in the middle is from SU's "sweet little sentiments."
Ok, must run...domestication calls! Have a great evening and I'll be back in a couple of days with some more to share.

OCLDT23 "What's Cookin!"

Hi Everyone!

Once again, I'm in a hurry but I wanted to post my card for yesterday's OCLDT 23 challenge. I'll try and come back later to put up the details. If not, have a great weekend!
**Update**

I'm back on this beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon to fill in the details about my card from yesterday. I actually did a bit of revamping with it because I picked up some new Copic Markers yesterday while I was out at Hobby Lobby including C5 (Cool Grey 5) and used it around the bottom and side of the stove. As for the rest of the coloring for the stove, I used C1,C2,C5, B00,B02,R20. For Betty I used E00,E01,E02 for her skin. Her hair is E33,E35. Her apron was shaded with B00,Bo2 and B05 and her top is R20. I used just a regular SU black marker for her skirt and shoes. The card has a Tempting TQ base and then I added a layer of Blush Blossom. The patterned paper at the top is from a package I picked up at the $1 store...FOREVER ago. I think everything else is pretty self explanatory. Hope you like it and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Challenges, iPhone and Twitter.

Hi All!

Sorry I've been MIA the last couple of days. I have no excuse other than to tell you I've become completely addicted to my iPhone and Twitter. I would love to have some more followers. I only have 5 right now. (Boo!) I would have to say that that has a lot to do with the fact that I am quite particular about who I want to follow me. I do want people who at least have some sort of interest in what I'm twitting about: ie people with some similar interests. So if you are a stamper, scrapper, paper enthusiast, GH fan or just in general a TV junkie than stop on by you can find me @rtjmom
Ok, so on to my cards for today. I have to tell you since it's already late and I'm trying to watch Burn Notice while watching this that I'm just gonna show you what I got and skip the details.
The first card is for this week's Mojo Monday. Not a big fan of this sketch, had a hard time with it; but oh well I guess that's the point of a challenge right? The next card is for this week's MMSC. This one was a lot easier and I was actually pleased with the way it turned out. I think that this is definitely a sketch I could use again.
I'm off to work on some scrapbook layouts for the rest of the evening. Ugh I am such desperate need for good scrapbook paper. Gonna have to go shopping soon. Have a great evening and I'll be back with more creations real soon!

OCL challenge...sort of

It's a little tweaked, I admit; but I think I can still count it for this week's OCLDT challenge. My oval was a little larger than I had originally anticipated, so I had to move the scalloped piece across the bottom down just a bit. I used "Floral Fantasy", stamping different flowers from the set and then cutting them out and layering them. I used Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Old Olive and So Saffron for my color palette. The red patterned paper is from an old pad of SU Designer Series Paper. I punched 1"circles from Old Olive paper and glued them to the back of the Red Nestie Oval to get the scalloped edge around that. The "Can't Smile Without You" sentiment is from OCL "Say it Big" set which I stamped on Vanilla paper with Chestnut Roan Chalk ink.
So, as I said a bit tweaked; but overall I was pleased with the final result.
I'm off for the day. Have grand ideas and plans for crafting; but not a lot of get up and go to get it done, so we'll see! I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Trying New Things

Good Sunday Morning Everyone!

Bit unusual for me to post on a Sunday; but I didn't get a chance to post on Friday when I made this card, so I thought I'd go ahead and do it now. I just bought an iPhone (no not a 4) but I LOVE it and I have barely been able to put it down!! You will notice that I am now on Twitter, so please come along and follow me @ rtjmom. I'm new to that as well but I've been having a blast with it.
Anyhow, on to the card. I used Razzleberry as my card base and then added a layer of Coredinations card stock which I ran through my CB with the Swirls folder and then sanded to have the white show through. This was my first experience with this paper and I have to say, I do really like it. I bought three sheets of it in different colors to experiment with and I am looking forward to doing more with it. I added a small piece of Crushed Curry which I matted on to a piece of Grey before adding the Razzleberry ribbon and buttons down the side. The flourish stamps on the bottom of the center piece are from SU's Priceless set which I stamped in Razzleberry ink. The "Birthday Wishes" sentiment is from Sincere Salutations and was stamped in ColorBox Charcoal Grey Chalk ink.
Quick and easy. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Still Trying....

Well, I'm still trying to get my stamping groove back. At first, I thought this card was pretty good, now I'm not so sure. Isn't it amazing how what you make always looks different than what you envisioned? and also how much different it looks on the computer? This is for yesterday's SCS sketch challenge.
I used Handsome Hunter, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Sage and Black for my color palette. I know some of those are old colors; but as I said yesterday I haven't updated my paper yet so I just have to work with what I got. The stamp is an old one too from SU's "Fruit Stand" set. I stamped it in Memento Black ink and then used Copics to color it in. I realized after I colored it in that the greens I used really didn't match the paper. My Copic collection is more than it used to be; but still quite small, so again I used what I had.
So, not my favorite; but it'll do for today. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great afternoon!

Back in the Groove

Hello Everyone!

Well, I'm back!! I hope that you have all had a wonderful summer. Mine has been a whirlwind of activity with beach vacation, moving from Rhode Island to Texas, shopping and setting up our new house, unpacking and just TONS of activity!
Today was the first time I've done any stamping in about two months and I have to admit I was a bit overwhelmed when I first started thinking about what to do. I think it may take a week or so for me to really hit my stride again, so go easy on me, please! LOL
I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch to get going. I started with a Bashful Blue and then added a layer of Summer Sun. The patterned paper is from Stampin Up and the green is just from my stash. I also used a bit of Regal Rose. The two square floral stamps are from an Inkadinkado set and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. The flowers in are from Floral Doodles. It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but the rhinestones around the curve of the sentiment are actually green and yellow.
So, something simple for today as I start to get my feet wet again. I hope you like it! Also, I know that Stampin Up has new colors and old colors that are now new colors and new colors that are not colors anymore; but I have not ordered any paper yet. So for a little while you all will probably see some old colors.
Finally, you know how much I love reading your comments and I hope you all will have a few minutes for some kind words for me; but I do have to let you know that I have had to put on comment moderation. While I was taking my break from blogging I kept getting comments from people from "not so nice" websites. Hopefully, that will stop soon! Have a great evening!
