25 Days of Christmas: Day 12

Hi Everyone!

Well here we are at the half way point. I hope you are all enjoying my little Christmas Crafting journey. Today's card is one that I have to admit, I admire every time I look at it. It's just so sparkly and shiny. This is another one of those cards that I tried to use similar materials and techniques. Kristina used a different stamp and technique for her glitter on her "Merry Christmas" card. My glitter is a tad hard to see in the picture, so you'll have to take my word for it that it is all sparkly and shiny in real life because I put glitter on the background swirls as well as all around the Poinsettia. This stamp is from a set I bought last year at Michael's. It is by Recollections and is called "Christmas Flourish" I did not provide a link below because I don't believe it's available this year. I couldn't find any place on line that sold it.  I stamped the image with Memento ink and colored it in with Copic markers before adding the gold stickles. I cut the scallop circle using an SVG file for my cricut and the "Joy" stickers are from American Crafts. This was a very easy card to do and I hope you like it as much as I do!

25 Days of Christmas: Day 11

Hi Everyone!

Before we get to today's card, I just want to clarify something. Many of you have been providing wonderful comments for me about these cards that I am sharing with you. However, some are complimenting me on BOTH cards I'm sharing each day. I just wanted to remind everyone, that I actually only made one card for each day. The larger photo each day is my creation. The smaller photo each day is from Kristina Werner. There's always a link to the appropriate post over at Kristina's blog where you can watch her video.
Ok, so for today's card, I decided to use some pretty blue, red and white. I built the card around the pattern paper from a Martha Stewart pattern paper pad that I actually got last year. I really liked the design of this card. I thought the circles would be perfect for some tiny snowflakes. I cut the three that are on the card using my Cricut. I made the circles just a little smaller than the ones on Kristina's "Wishing You Hope, Joy, and Peace" 
card. The "Winter Wonderland" Sentiment is from a set of scrapbook stickers that I have.
I wish there was more to say about this cute little card; but there really isn't! So, I will leave you with the links to the supplies and an invitation to come back tomorrow for Day 12.

25 Days of Christmas: Day 10

Good Morning! How are y'all today? For today's card, I used the same collection of pattern papers that Kristina used on her "Tis The Season" card. I did, however, discover that there are a few papers that are in the 12x12 collection package that Kristina had and the 6x6 paper pad that I used. I really liked the unique design of this card. It's very unusual for a Christmas card I think; and I like the fact that it uses the unique combination of pattern paper as the focal point. One of my favorite things about stamping and creating, is that you get to throw out the usual color combination do's and don'ts. This is especially nice for the age old "don't" of mixing red and pink together. I think as a small girl, that was the one rule of fashion, I just never quite understood! In the crafting world though, red and pink are not only acceptable, they are encouraged and embraced. Yay!! I made a couple of other changes from the original card as well by using some scalloped pattern paper instead of punching an edge. I also used a wider ribbon; but I had a hard time getting it to tie in a bow and lay the way I wanted it to, so I decided to use some gold cord and tie that in a bow instead. All in all, a simple card that was a lot of fun to make!!

25 Days of Christmas: Day 9

Hi Everyone!

Well here we are at day number 9. I have a funny story to go along with this card. When I started making the cards and playing along with Kristina's HCS this year, I tried to make them all as the series was going along, so that I didn't have all of them to make at the end. (Although, I still actually have 1 left to make) That plan worked very well except for Day 9! LOL!! I just had a hard time with this card, as cute as Kristina's "Dude" card was, it was the most difficult for me to recreate. I think perhaps it was because of the handwriting on it. Let's face it, we're all jealous of how beautiful Kristina's handwriting is! Anyhow, I delayed and waited and procrastinated to make this card for as long as I could! I almost just skipped this day; but I decided that I needed to stay true to my challenge of completing all of the cards. This is what I finally came up with. The letter stickers are from American Crafts and I tried to keep the handwriting to a minimum! Lol!! I also cheated a bit and used some snowflake pattern paper for the background instead of stamping them. Lots of pattern paper on this card and that's about it, so the supply list is fairly short for this card. In the end, I think it turned out pretty darned cute!
