Color Throwdown: Happy Birthday!

Hello Everyone!

Here today to share a card using colors from the Color Throwdown challenge. It was refreshing to use some bright spring themed colors after making so many winter cards.

I used stamps from Verve, Hero Arts, and Simon Says Stamp to make this fun birthday card. I also used the sketch from the Tuesday Morning Sketches blog for inspiration.

Keeping the post simple today. Have a great day and thanks for visiting with me. I'll see you again soon!

Challenges:

1. Color Throwdown:
2. Inspiration Destination: Anything Goes
3. Simon Says Stamp: Things that Fly
4. Cards and More: Chevrons
5. Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch

More Flowers

Good Morning Everyone!

Well, it was another early crafting morning for me; and I have to say for someone who was up at 5:00 bleary eyed and not quite thinking straight, I am quite pleased with the way this turned out. I think for now, we'll just skip the part about me being completely out of my mind for crafting at 5:00am!
Anyhow, this was a very simple card and yes, I know it looks very similar to the card yesterday with the flowers; but what can I say?! If you have flowers...why not used them, right.
I used Orange Zest, Aqua Mist and White from PTI. The darker blue along the center is from my scrap package. I distressed the edge of the darker blue piece and also the white background piece. After I distressed it, I sponged some Tumbled Glass distress ink around the edges.

This card fits just a few challenges:

1. Tuesday Morning Sketches: sketch 82

2. Anything Goes: Distress

3. Party Time Tuesday: Anything Goes

4. Sweet Stamps: Flowers

5. Tuesday Throw down: 3D (pop it up)

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Just Saying Hello!

Hi Everyone!

I know I said I wasn't posting anymore this week; but the hubby had some errands to run this morning, so I decided to take advantage of the extra time I had this morning and put together a quick card.
Don't forget tomorrow is the day I choose this week's Delightful Daisy awards. If you are unfamiliar with this make sure and read about it here so that you can participate and be eligible for a $15 gift certificate to Two Peas.
Since I don't have a whole lot of time, I am just going to list the challenges I am entering this card into and use them to describe my card.

1. ABC Challenge: N is for Neutrals: I chose black, brown and white. I figure you can't get more neutral than those colors.

2. Tuesday Morning Sketch: Easy as Pie sketch, and I loved it!

3. Tuesday Throwdown: Buttons. You know me and buttons! Never pass up a challenge that requires buttons!

4. Crafty Creations: 3 Little Words. My sentiment is from Hero Arts

5. Fab n Funky: Texture. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the white piece (which is a bit hard to see in the picture) and the brown piece as well.

So, there you have it. Simple and easy; but I hope you like it! Have a fabulous day and don't forget to leave a comment so I can come and visit you to see if you are a "Delightful Daisy" this week!

Warm Fuzzies

Hi Everyone!

Once again I am caught behind schedule, so I am just going to post this very quickly and list the challenges that I am entering it into.

One other quick note. I have started a new blog, called "Interpretations of this Crazy Life" It's brand new and just a hodge podge really of random subjects that pop into my head. Everything from TV, to politics, and parenting. There is no crafting on it; but I would love for you to take a look at it and let me know that you think. New followers would be awesome there also!

Ok, so here's the list of challenges.

365 Cards: Use yellow and make it cheery
Cooking it up with Katie: Use a current sketch, add some texture, and finish with a punch
Creative Inspirations: Buttons and Bows
Fab n Funky: Use a Digi (I chose one from Priscilla Styles)
Inky Impressions: Emboss
Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch #78

Ducky Days

Hi Everyone!

Here is my card for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketch. As you can see, I flipped it because I thought it would work better with the image that I used. I would love to go into a lot of details about this; but I want to get some more stamping done before I have to get back to studying for my test. I will say that I the stamp set I used is "Ducky Days" from OCL. This is one of the stamp sets I chose as one of my prizes for winning the Blinkie Contest for last months "Thankful for You" promotion. It is an adorable set, and I am looking forward to playing some more with it. The pattern papers are from Cosmo Cricket 6x6 Togetherness Pad.
Have a great day, everyone!!

Missing You

Hi Everyone!

Posting early this morning before I get the minis up for school. I actually made this card yesterday, but was a bit lazy about getting it posted. We got a new big screen TV for Christmas, and well...let's just say it is NOT helping my TV addiction! Especially right now, since the hubs is out town and I have complete control of the remote. LOL!!
This is my card for this week's Color Throwdown to use Artichoke, Baja Breeze and Cameo Coral. I actually don't have any Baja card stock; but I did manage to find some of this old SU pattern paper and I also substituted a bit of Ocean Tide from PTI. I figured it was a close enough match that I'd be ok. Now, I have to be honest and tell you that I didn't much care for the Cameo Coral with this color combo. I don't know...just didn't set well with me, which is why I used it very sparingly on the card.
This is also for Tuesday Morning Sketches this week as well. It was an easy sketch to work with, so thank you for that, Melissa!
I used OCL's "Garden Thoughts" set for this card, which brings me to the oh so good news I wanted to share with you. Guess who won herself Three OCL Stamp Sets?!! Yep, that's right...little ol' me! I won the "Blinkie" contest that they ran in Nov/Dec for their "Thankful for You" promotion. I was completely and utterly shocked! I can't wait to get my new sets and play with them, ya'll know I LOVE me some OCL stamps!!!
Ok, time to get some breakfast on the table. Have a great day, everyone!

Someone's Having a Baby...

But it's not me! LOL!! I'm afraid that ship has sailed all it's voyages. Actually I don't know anyone who is having a baby. However, when I decided to use these colors together from PTI, how could I not make a baby card?! I'm sure someone I know will have a baby and I'll be able to use it. I used Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain, White and Kraft for my color combination. I used yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketch. I'm also continuing my theme of embossing this week as well. I stamped a Polka Dot background stamp from Inkadinkado with versa mark and embossed with clear powder for the background behind the kraft oval. The oval was cut using the Lacy Circle Digital Cutting kit with my Cricut. The sentiment in the middle is from another Inkadinkado set called "Baby Boy"

No One Like You

Hi Everyone!

Today I am sharing my card for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge. I used the Shaped Cards Digital Cutting kit by Kristina Werner to make the circle card with my Cricut I am continuing my focus on patterns paper this week also. For this one, I used papers from Cosmo Crickets Wanted mini deck. This pad of paper has beautiful blues, reds, rusts and browns in it. I LOVE IT, so expect to see more of these papers in future cards. I used Aqua Mist from Paper Trey ink and some rust paper for my solid colors in the card. The sentiment in the middle is from Hero Arts "Thinking of You" set stamped in Chestnut Roan Chalk ink on some neutral scrap paper that I had. This card came together super easily because I didn't stamp anything except for the sentiment. So, I hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by to visit with me today.

"Follow Your Heart"

Hi Everyone!

Hope you are all having a good week so far. Mine has been crafty, and relaxing since the hubs is out of town at the moment. I made this card last night while watching all of my favorite CBS shows: NCIS, NCIS:LA and The Good Wife. I used Regal Rose, So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie, which were colors actually inspired by a challenge over at Play Date Cafe; but it's too late for me to link the card there. Oh well, it still gave me inspiration! I followed the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches. It was a fun sketch and one that could definitely be used again! I used some stickles to go around the outline of the flower to make it all sparkly, which I did for the challenges posted over at Paper Take Weekly as well as Craft Your Passion. I really really wanted to put some buttons or a bow down at the bottom; but I resisted the urge and decided to put some orange little blingy stickers along the bottom on the Vanilla Ribbon. This means I can use this card for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesdays "No Buttons or Bows" challenge.
Ok, so I'm off to link up my card at all the appropriate challenge sites and to do a bit of blog hopping. Have a great day! Thanks for visiting me!

Spots, Stripes and a Star

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick card to share with you today. This was an easy card that I did following the Tuesday Morning Sketch. I recently bought some Christmas stamps at Michael's and decided to use them because the star in the sketch made me think of Christmas. I used Ruby Red, Black, White and two pieces of patterned paper from American Crafts, Merry Mint collection.
I added a bit of sparkle around the edges of the star using some stickles. The ribbon at the bottom looks a bit orangy in the photo; but IRL it actually matches the red of the star quite nicely. There really isn't a whole lot to say about this card, really. It was so simple!! I am only entering this one into two challenges:

Sketch: Tues Morning Sketches
Misc: A Spoonful of Sugar (use spots and stripes)

Have a great day, and thanks for taking time to stop by and see me!

"Best Yet"

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am sharing my card for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketches Challenge. The image I used is a digital image from Guylou's Inimitability I copied it into Microsoft Word and then resized it so that I knew it would fit into the Label One Nestability that I wanted to use. I printed it out and let the image dry while I worked on the rest of the card. I started with a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of Ocean Tide from PTI. I added a layer of Mostly Mustard that I embossed using the cuttlebug argyle embossing folder. I cut the Ruby Red piece using Label One Nestabilities. I colored the image using Copics: Y21,Y26,E07 (flowers) G24 (leaves) BG72, BG75 (Basket), G21, G24, E07, E09 (Apples). After I colored it in, I sponged the top with Soft Sky ink and then used my applicator to sponge on Weathered Wood and Tea Dye distress inks around the top and bottom. I also edged the bottom in "Vintage Photo" and also did the top with Weathered Wood again.

My card for today fits the following challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketches: Sketch 57
My Time To Craft: in the Garden
Cupcake Craft Challenge: Digital
Daisy Doodle: Digital Anything
Fab N Funky: Use Material. (I used a piece of ribbon)

I didn't have time do any crafting this morning, so I probably won't be back again until Friday. Until then, enjoy your crafting time!

The "Joy" of Card Making

Ok, ok I know it's a REALLY bad blog post title; but sometimes that's the hardest part of blogging: thinking of the title!

One quick note before I chat about my card. I have recently begun to do some writing for Associated Content. This morning I found out that my first article has been published. Yay! If you could all do me a favor and please read the article, I would greatly appreciate it. It is a very short piece on supplies for college freshmen (and why they need umbrellas!). I'll be honest, it's all about the money. The more people who view the page, the better chance I have to earn a bit of money. So please please help me out. Yes, I'm begging!!!
Ok, now onto the card. I made this card for Tuesday Morning Sketches. It is actually a Joy Fold Card; but I had a really hard time getting it to photograph while it was open, so you'll just have to take my word for it. I used Crushed Curry, Going Grey, So Saffron and Ruby Red for my color palette. The pattern paper is from a package I bought from Wal Mart EONS ago. I used Loads of Love stamp set from SU stamping it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then used Copics to color it in. The tires are C1, C2 and C5. The body of the truck is R59 and I used the colorless blender to take away a bit of the color on the truck. The hearts in the back were colored with R35. Everything else is self explanatory, so I'm off. I am 3 days behind with my Google Reader Subscriptions and I'm off to catch up with everyone. I hope you all have a great evening and I'll be back again soon.

Oooohh guess what?!! I just ordered new paper from PTI (my first time) and 2 new OCL stamp sets. YAY!! Can't wait to get them!!

Relaxing with Riley

Hi Everyone!

Wow, what a beautiful day here in Newport, RI!! We are going to definitely be spending some time outside. This morning, however, while Jonathan was at school, I got a chance to do a bit of stamping. My card today is for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketches and this week's Color Throwdown challenge. This was an easy sketch to work with and I found the elements coming together rather well and quickly also. I didn't have any Kiwi Kiss left, so I found a green that was as close as I could. I'm not even sure where it came from, it was just in my paper holder.
I started with a Tempting TQ base and added a layer of the green. Before I attached it, however, I ran it through my CB with spots and dots folder and then sponged the edges with Peeled Paint distress ink. I cut a square of Rose Red and stamped it with the background stamp from the retired SU set "Polka Dot's and Paisleys." I stamped Riley with Memento "Rich Cocoa" ink and used Copic Markers to color him in. The ones I used were E35, YG03, and RV34. In addition I used my blender pens with TQ ink and Rose Red ink.
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment at the bottom is from SU "Fundamental Phrases" stamped in the Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I crisscrossed some blue thread around the green piece as well. I added the buttons, which I moved to the bottom of the card because I just thought it worked better that way. I punched a scallop circle from TQ paper and then cut a 1 1/2 Rose Red circle. I stamped "Happy Wishes" from Hero Arts "Thinking of You" set in TQ ink and used 1 inch punch to cut it out.
All in all, I think it turned out rather nicely. What do you think?!

More Mother's Day

Hi Everyone!

I have three more Mother's Day cards to share with you. I'm almost done with my cards for the craft fair. (Yippee!!)
The first card I did is for OCL's sketch challenge. I used Old Olive, Teal, Celery and Blush Blossom for my color palette. I colored the image with Copics and SU markers. The rest is really straightforward..
So on to the second card, which is for Tuesday Morning sketches. I also combined this with SCS color challenge to use Suede, Saffron and TQ. I didn't have enough Suede so I substituted Close to Cocoa. It's a bit hard to see in the photo; but I did stamp the larger Saffron piece with the Fine Lace Background stamp. I used the Birds and Swirls embossing folder on the smaller strips and Label 1 Nestabilities for the image. The hat and glove image is from the same "Vintage Roses" set (OCL) that I used in the first card. I used markers and watercolor crayons to fill it in. The last card is for the MMSC challenge. A few days ago, while blurfing around various blogs I came across one in which someone had done some button flower images and I just thought it was the cutest thing ever! So, I decided to give a go at it and thought this sketch would be perfect for it. I used Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, white and a small bit of Yo Yo Yellow (yes, Yo Yo Yellow!) I didn't even have to stamp anything on this one! (except the sentiment at the bottom) I drew the stems and leaves with a green marker and then threaded some light green thread through each button and then adhered them with mini glue dots. Easy Peasy!!!
Ok, so that's all for me today. Hope to go around and visit a bit later. For now, I'm off to set up my table and get to work!

Baby Cards

Hi Everyone!

Here today with my cards for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketch and today's SCS sketch challenge as well as this week's color challenge. I am working on baby cards this week for the gift card sets I am doing for the craft fair.
The first card is for the TM sketch. I used Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and some textured card stock from Bazzill earth tones collection. I also used a new stamp set from Inkadinkado appropriately titled "Baby Boy" As you can see, I stamped the images in softer ink colors (bashful blue, saffron and celery) so they are a bit hard to see in the picture. This was a simple sketch to work with and an easy card to put together.
So, that's the boy card for today. Now on to the girl card. This is for today's SCS sketch challenge and the color challenge to use Dusty Durango, Pretty in Pink and Creamy Caramel along with a neutral. I chose white. I really like this combo especially the Pink and the Durango. This was by far the easiest card I've put together in a long time. It took me less than 30 minutes and I have to say I completely love the results. The flowers are from a tin of Prima flowers that I have and the button is from SU. I really like to use these flowers; but they are quite large and so sometimes you have to design the card around the flower instead of just adding them as a last minute embellishment to the card. It's a bit hard to see in the photo, but I did use a cuttlebug embossing folder on the white background piece. I really like the look of the white embossing!
The "Sweet Little Baby" sentiment, stamped in Regal Rose ink, is from the Inkadinkado set called (yep...you guessed it!) "Baby Girl"
Ok, so that's it for me today. I will try to post again sometime Friday afternoon. Until then, have a great couple of days and happy crafting!!

Sending Love

Hi!
Today I have one card for two challenges: Yesterday's Tuesday Sketch Challenge and today's Color Throwdown using Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Wild Wasabi and Marigold Morning. I actually don't have anymore Wild Wasabi or Marigold Morning, so I substituted some colors from my stash that I thought were a close enough match. The scalloped squares of pattern paper are from the Sasha Paper Collection by Prima and the "hi" letters are chipboard from Me and My Big Ideas. All in all a simple card; but I think it came together well. I hope you like it. Thanks so much for stopping by. Leave a comment if you can, I'd love to hear what you think.

Get Sketchy and a new Challenge

Good Morning!

Well, the snow has come and everything has gone back to normal so school is back in session. I have two cards to share with you today. The first is for last Friday's Get Sketchy 24 challenge. I used Taken with Teal, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie for my colors. The flower in the main panel are from SU's Upsy Daisy set and I stamped it in Pumpkin Pie ink on Whisper White card stock. This card is really straightforward, so no need for lots of boring details.
The second card I have for you today is for a new challenge (or at least new to me) called Tuesday Morning Sketches. I know, I know....just what I need is another challenge. I think I will be alternating this challenge with the MMSC challenges that happen on Tuesdays or I might do both or I might just pick whichever one I like better that week. Who knows, I guess you'll just have to wait and see. I really liked this sketch and was quite pleased with the results. I used Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Rose Red for the color palette. I used Swiss Dots and Swirls CB folders. The cupcake in the middle is from Inkadinkado "Birthday Cupcake" set.
I used some Color Box Chalk Queue inks to stamp it on white card stock. I used blender pens and the same chalk inks to color in the bottom. It's hard to tell in the picture but I did "frost" the cake by combining some clear embossing powder and pink glitter. I put some Tombow Mono liquid adhesive on the top of the cupcake and then poured the powder over it. I heat set it with my heat gun. After it was completely dry I took a Rose Red marker and made the red dots and then actually covered them with some crystal affects. Like I said a bit hard to tell in the picture; but really cool texture IRL. I used Petite Scallop Circle Nestabilities for the Pretty in Pink circle behind the image. I stamped the sentiment also from the same Inkadinkado set with Olive Pastel Chalk ink. I added the eyelets in the corner to complete the card.
Have a great day!
