Relaxing with Riley
Hi Everyone!
Wow, what a beautiful day here in Newport, RI!! We are going to definitely be spending some time outside. This morning, however, while Jonathan was at school, I got a chance to do a bit of stamping. My card today is for yesterday's Tuesday Morning Sketches and this week's Color Throwdown challenge. This was an easy sketch to work with and I found the elements coming together rather well and quickly also. I didn't have any Kiwi Kiss left, so I found a green that was as close as I could. I'm not even sure where it came from, it was just in my paper holder.
I started with a Tempting TQ base and added a layer of the green. Before I attached it, however, I ran it through my CB with spots and dots folder and then sponged the edges with Peeled Paint distress ink. I cut a square of Rose Red and stamped it with the background stamp from the retired SU set "Polka Dot's and Paisleys." I stamped Riley with Memento "Rich Cocoa" ink and used Copic Markers to color him in. The ones I used were E35, YG03, and RV34. In addition I used my blender pens with TQ ink and Rose Red ink.
The "Happy Birthday" sentiment at the bottom is from SU "Fundamental Phrases" stamped in the Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I crisscrossed some blue thread around the green piece as well. I added the buttons, which I moved to the bottom of the card because I just thought it worked better that way. I punched a scallop circle from TQ paper and then cut a 1 1/2 Rose Red circle. I stamped "Happy Wishes" from Hero Arts "Thinking of You" set in TQ ink and used 1 inch punch to cut it out.
All in all, I think it turned out rather nicely. What do you think?!
