Sometimes it all just works.

Good morning everyone!

I very rarely sit down to make a card without having some sort of idea or sketch about what I am going to do. Now, having said that, it also very rare that what I end up with is actually what I was envisioning. Usually there's some element that just doesn't work the way that I had imagined. Every once in a while though, all the planets in the creative universe line up and Viola...my imagination turns into a pretty decent piece of reality.
Such is the news of today's card. I wanted to do something relatively simple;but with a bit of pizazz as well. I had noticed that Kristina Werner embosses a lot of of her background images, so I wanted to incorporate that here. I used my favorite background stamp "Fine Lace" to accomplish that aspect. It is a bit hard to tell in the picture, but it really is cool IRL. Secondly I wanted to use some embroidery floss instead of ribbon to create another interesting and unique element to the card. I used Versamark and my SU chalks with daubers and blender pens to color the flowers, which are from the retired hostess set "Echoes of Kindness." Finally, a bit of faux white stitching around the edge of the card made it all come together. So, what do you think? That's all for me today, at least creatively. I plan to hop around and see what everyone is up to today, though. Have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday.

Supplies:
Paper: Cameo Coral, So Saffron, Tempting TQ.
Stamps: Echoes of Kindness, Fine Lace Background, Fundamental Phrases

So True, So True.

Good Morning!

You may be wondering about the strange title for today's post. It refers to the sentiment on the card for today. It is from the Fifth Ave Floral set that I finally got. I've been wanting it for the longest time and was so happy to get it. I love the sentiment because I think that it is probably one of the most true things I've ever read. They are definitely words to live by, aren't they?
This card also uses some of the new in colors for this year. I think the same thing every year when they come out with new colors. I am sad to see the old "new" colors go; but am delighted with the new ones. Honestly, I don't think that I've been unhappy with any of the colors SU has developed since starting the in colors. What's amazing is how many things I see in fashion, and home decor and other things that have colors so similar to these new colors. Any one else experience that?
So, here I've combined Razzling Razzleberry, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. I used a blender pen with the ink pad to color the flower. It came out a bit bright in the picture. It looks more like pink passion than melon mambo! The rest is very straight forward, so I won't bore you with the rest of the details.
Have a great day! Leave a comment for me...I love to hear from you! Also, I hope you like the new blog look. I figured it was time to change it up a bit!

"Hello Friend"...I'm Back!!

Hi!

It's so good to be back! Vacation was a lot of fun and we had a great time visiting family; but as you all know it's always great to be home. We have officially settled in here in Rhode Island and my stamping supplies are unpacked and ready to go. I have to tell you though, my house doesn't have any AC and the humidity is horrible here! It's not that hot, so the kids are able to spend most of the day outside, which is fantastic! However, it doesn't do much for my stamping supplies, especially my paper, which just sort of wilts and warps as soon as I leave it out for more than five minutes!
Anyhow, I hope to be able to visit all my favorite blogs today and see what everyone has been up to. I'm so far behind on everything! I've been trying to catch up on my Kwerner videos that I missed over the last couple of months. Speaking of Kristina, I was able to visit an Archivers store in Omaha, NE while I was on vacation and it was really cool seeing a lot of the things that she uses. I bought all kinds of really great things, including some Thickers by Amercan Crafts, Basic Grey pattern paper, Flora Doodle flowers and buttons, Zinnia stamps by LYB, Hero Arts stamps and other stuff I can't remember. I also got new stuff from SU from the new catalog!
However, I haven't actually used any of it yet! I took a few supplies with me while on vacation because I actually did a workshop for my sister -in law. I played a bit with a few things that I'm going to share with you this week. I hope to get back into the normal routine of challenges next week.
The card I'm sharing today is actually one that I did before I moved and was inspired by a Kwerner video. I loved the idea of doing the inchies out of different pattern paper. I can't tell you how much easier they will be to do now that I have 1" square punch...which I didnt' have when I made this card. I actually didn't do any stamping on this card. The "Hello Friend" is Quickutz letters (yes, I'm still using the old squeeze tool!) and then adhered.
Ok, so that's it for me today. So happy to be back. Leave a comment for me, I'd love to hear from all of you!!

A Quick Hello!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick note to say hi to all of you. I am currently on vacation in Iowa after having moved to Rhode Island and barely gotten unpacked before getting back in the vehicle to travel here to visit my husband's family. I can't wait to get back and start stamping again and see what everyone has been up to. I got some new goodies at Archivers and some new things from SU as well. I hope everyone is having a fabulous summer. I'll be back the first week of August!
Bye for now!
