Watercolor Autumn Trees

Hi Everyone!
 I hope you’re having a wonderful day. Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog today! Today’s card is another Autumn themed card featuring a watercolor background. This background was actually made at the same time I did the one in Monday’s card.

While the background of the first card was still wet, I laid a piece of watercolor paper on top of it and “smooshed” the two pieces together. The result is that the second piece had a slightly lighter layer of watercolors than the 1st one. I smooshed it around a couple of times and then lightly added some additional color to finish filling out the background. The intention with this background was to keep it light and subtle.
For the center image, I turned once again to my Lovely as a Tree set, which yes...is the original wood block set that I have had for more years than I care to admit!  (Let’s just say I think my now 15 year old son was still in diapers when I got it)

I decided to just take a chance and inked it randomly with a few distress inks. (Side note...I got my first set of Distress Oxide inks yesterday, look for a blog post soon! Anyhow, back to regularly scheduled programming...) I used Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge and Wild Honey Distress inks along with Simon Says Stamp’s Green Apple. I just inked the stamp and hoped for the best. It actually took about three tries to get it the way I wanted it; but I was happy with the final results.

I did some die cutting and layering to frame the center image before adding the sentiment at the bottom which is also from an old Stampin Up wood block set (I have no idea which one...)
Finally, I added some May Arts twine as a bit of a finishing touch to separate the main image from the sentiment.
