"Can't Smile without You"

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. Mine was really low key actually. Just hung around the house mostly, trying to stay cool and save money. DH and the kids are at the pool right now, while I am at home trying to complete some online job applications for teaching. Ran into a bit of a road block, however, so I thought I'd take a small break and share a card I made this morning.
Now, I have to apologize for the not so great photos. I opted to take pictures this time instead of scanning. I'm not sure why I decided to do that because every time I do, this is what happens. So kudos to all of you out there who are able to take such great photos of your cards.
One of my favorite blogs to visit is Beate's Fresh and Fun blog. No doubt, many of you are probably also familiar with her. First of all she's ridiculously talented! I have a hard time picking my jaw up off the floor when I see her AMAZING work!! Secondly, I love the fact that she gives so much detail about her cards and that she does the inside of her card as well. I decided therefore, to take a page from her book and do the inside of my card and I'm really going to try to make a special point to do that from now on. I don't know, it just makes the card feel really complete. So, on that note, let's talk about my card.
This is for Friday's OCLDT 26 challenge. If you are unfamiliar with this challenge, I encourage you to check it out. Each Friday there is a sketch posted and a chance to win a prize. Check out all the details over at "The Lounge" For my card today, I chose to go with some softer colors . I started with a 4 1/2 x11 Sage Shadow Base and added a 4 1/2 x4 1/2 layer of Chocolate Chip. Before I attached it, I used my Fiskars Threading Waters edge punch to scallop the edge. I ran a 4 1/4x 3 3/4 piece of Pink Pirouette card stock through my Cuttlebug using the Bloom Dots Embossing Folder and then layered it on to the Choc Chip piece. I used my Petite Scallop Nestabilities for the Kraft Circles and the white image circles. The pink circles in between measure 1 7/16. I stamped the small flower images from OCL's "Fabulous Florals" with Sage Shadow ink and then colored in the petals on the top flower with my Copic RV32 marker. The sentiment is from OCL's "Say it Big" was stamped directly onto the Kraft Circle using Color Box Chalk ink in Chestnut Roan.
For the inside of the card, I kept it really simple by just layering a scallop piece of Chocolate Chip on the bottom with some white card stock that I stamped with more flowers in Sage Shadow ink. Next I put another layer of pink and then the layer of white. Easy Peasy!
Well, that's all for me today. I'm off to work on my applications and perhaps do some more crafting later. Have a fabulous day!
