OCL Fall Birthday

Hi Everyone!!

Did you all have a fabulous weekend? Mine was great! Spent a lot of times with the kids doing different things and somehow still managed to do quite a bit of crafting. Saturday, as I am sure many of you know, was World Card Making Day and SCS started a challenge called "Hope You can Cling to." They started with three card challenges on Saturday and then they will have one challenge per day for the rest of the month. You can click on the blinkie I've added to my blog this month for all the details.
I was able to do all three of the ones for Saturday (Yippee!!)and also the one for Sunday. Rather than posting them here however, I put them in my (long neglected) SCS gallery! So stop by and leave some love for me on "Pink Holidays", "Lingerie Inspired", "Bring on the Brown" and "Unsentimental"
As for today's card for here on the blog I am sharing my card for this week's OCL sketch challenge. I used "Say it Big" and "Shades of Fall" I had not ever really thought about using leaves for a birthday card; but why not, right? I stamped the leaves with Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Ruby Red ink and then used Copics to shade them in. I cut each one out and then covered them with crystal effects to make them shiny. What I really liked about this technique is that as the crystal effects dried, it made the leaves curl up around the edges a bit, and gave them a crispy feel. The 4 square pattern paper piece was inspired by K. Werner's Finally Friday Video this week. I couldn't find 4 patterns that I liked, so I used stamps and Versamark to create two of the sections.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:

1. Sketch: OCL
2. Colors: Color Throwdown (Red, Orange, Olive Green)
3. Misc: Crafty Calendar (Autumn Birthday)
4. Misc: Sentimental Sundays (Sentiment with Autumn Colors)

Very nice fall birthday card. Clever use of the circle punches to make a scalloped border.
